Snow Goose ARU Project

The Fraser River delta is a crucial wintering and stop-over stop on the pacific flyway for many species of migratory birds.

Snow Geese are one species that come to Delta by the thousands every year and we are interested in studying their impact on the landscape, especially to our local agricultural environments.

Starting in the fall of 2022, we deployed 12 autonomous recording units (ARUs) throughout Delta to have 24-hour monitoring of Snow Goose activity and to determine their preferred field types.

We're excited to share results of this trial project and will post additional updates after the season ends in April.
