Foraging Waterfowl Tracker
Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust (DFWT) is teaming up with farmers and citizens of Metro Vancouver to monitor Snow Goose and other waterfowl activity throughout Metro Vancouver and Abbotsford. If you’ve seen any sightings of geese, ducks or swans on farm fields, please scroll down to the "Submit a Sighting" button and fill out our form.
DFWT has been conducting wintering waterfowl surveys since 2017 throughout Delta and Richmond. The waterfowl survey aims to estimate the distribution and population of migratory waterfowl and to evaluate the effectiveness of the Cover Crop program in providing feeding habitat for these waterfowl.
In 2023, with the expanse of DFWT's cost-share programs, waterfowl surveys are now being conducted in new regions not previously surveyed.
The Waterfowl Tracker aims to help DFWT improve future waterfowl monitoring, and identify areas of high waterfowl pressure which may not be a part of existing survey routes.
